It’s a project aimed at fighting period poverty among girls in Cameroon and Africa, by providing sanitary material for needy women and girls thereby enhancing the attainment of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5, “Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.”
Research shows that not having access to menstrual hygiene management products can keep girls home from school during their period each month, increase the risks of urinary tract infections (UTIs) for women, and even cause certain types of cancer, such as epithelial ovarian cancer. Thus, LGA brought forth this project to help combat period poverty and create awareness for the need for proper menstrual hygiene and zero stigma for girls during periods. Every girl deserves to be clean and in class during periods.
