Education Outreach Program

Our education outreach program is designed to create awareness about the need for girl-child education and to promote female literacy in Cameroon and Africa. We provide girls with tuition and study materials annually to enhance girls’ education. We believe that education is indeed a weapon of change, however, and according to countrywide statistics furnished by the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and the Family, between the ages of 6 and 14, only 80 percent of girls attend school compared to 94 percent of boys. The situation in Cameroon mirrors the bigger picture for Sub-Saharan Africa; where efforts to recruit and keep girls in school are slow because of low perceptions of the benefits of education, public perceptions that girls don’t need education, extreme poverty, and the low levels of education of their parents. Hence, we at LGA are not stopping till we see every girl in our community in class for a better future and society. Our future goal for our education project is to build a tuition-free college for girls in Cameroon who desire education but cannot afford tuition.
